The WorldWideOCR (World Wide Online Copyright Registration) is an innovative way to protect your copyrights.

Founded in 2003, WorldWideOCR is based out of Calgary, Ab, Canada with an Operations Center in Shaumburg, Il., USA and a Sales Office in Bartlett, Il., USA.

In a general way it works like this: you upload to the WorldWideOCR servers a zip file containing the work you want to protect (this zip file can contain several files inside, like a PDF score, a sequencer project or an mp3 file, to a maximum of 20Mb). After uploading your zip file and confirming that the file was correct and functioning, you will be able to download a date-stamped and protected SEAL file for personal archiving. This SEAL file contains your encrypted copyright inside with a summarized description about it (title, composer, time stamp of the uploaded file, etc).

Afterwords, WWOCR will send an e-mail summarizing this event. This e-mail serves to provide additional legal documentation of your SEAL file details and also contains your portion of the SEAL Key required to open it.

There are several membership options to chose from, starting from US$20 (1 year membership containing 7 SEAL credits) to US$99 (5 year membership containing 50 SEAL credits). You can check the prices here.

I've been using this service for one and a half year and I must say that it works very well.
